1930's Lamé Print Gown
Museum quality 1930's lamé fan and pearl print gown. This piece was decommissioned from the Brooklyn Museum's archive into our hands. Certainly the best lamé piece we have found from this era. Made of a heavy-weight lamé with actual metallic fibers in near perfect condition. This gown features boning in the bodice giving it the most heavenly shape, falling into an incredibly full skirt. The skirt has an additional layer of the same lamé lining the lower portion of shirt, and a panel of silk covering the inner layer for protection. It's held up by .5" straps and has a side zipper closure. It's hard to find lamé pieces from this time that have survived without tarnish, but to find one in a print like this is truly special. The fan and pearl motif in these tropical sorbet shades of yellow, gold, tangerine, and cream is seriously delightful. The rouched bust creates the sweetest neckline, and the bodice is lined with silk to cover boning and protect the inside of the fabric. The way the light catches this material is truly magical, photos don't even do it justice.
