1930's Silk Chiffon + Lace Gown Set

$598.00

Stunning early 1930's beige silk chiffon gown with lace bust and skirt, matching bolero with lace flutter sleeves. Delicate chiffon beautifully drapes over the body in this timeless gown with deco lines all throughout. Robust rayon bobbin lace adds interest at the neckline, and adds weight in the skirt creating beautiful movement. The back of the dress features a draped, cowl neckline with a weight attached to keep it placed just right. The bolero features a domed diamanté art deco clasp closure in the front, and lace sleeves. The gown is entirely lined in silk with clasps at the shoulder for an additional slip, though it is not all that necessary in modern times. Two tags inside at the shoulder indicates this piece was part of a museum collection, historical society, or archive. One tag reads "1930-32, E. Downes," and the other reads "Dinner gown, 1930, Donor-- Eleanor Downes." We tried to find information or photos of the original owner with no luck, but it could be a fun side quest if you end up buying this piece! The gown is in great condition, only notable flaws are some small discolored spots on the back, around .5"-1", and some small tears in the shoulder of the bolero. Some tiny pinholes in the body of the gown and very faint discolorations scattered through the shoulder area of the bolero as well.
